Phosphorus Flows in China. Physical Profiles and Environmental Regulation
Author(s) :
Liu Yi
Description :
The substantial shifts in the structure of domestic phosphorus (P) throughput, during a crucial period of social and economic transitions, brings forth a challenge for curbing the extensive eutrophication of surface waters in China. The lack of an overall knowledge on the societal metabolism of P ha...

Video streaming over cooperative wireless networks
Author(s) :
Liu, Yi
Description :
We study the problem of broadcasting video streams over a Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) to many mobile devices. We propose a cooperative network in which several elected mobile devices share received video data over a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The proposed system significantly ...

Finiteness of nonzero degree maps between three-manifolds
Author(s) :
Liu, Yi
Description :
In this paper, we prove that every orientable closed 3-manifold dominates at
most finitely many homeomorphically distinct irreducible non-geometric
3-manifolds. Moreover, for any integer $d>0$, every orientable closed
3-manifold $d$-dominates only finitely many homeomorphically distinct
3-manifold...

A Jorgensen-Thurston theorem for homomorphisms
Author(s) :
Liu, Yi
Description :
In this note, we provide a description of the structure of homomorphisms from
a finitely generated group to any torsion-free (3-dimensional) Kleinian group
with uniformly bounded finite covolume. This is analogous to the
Jorgensen-Thurston Theorem in hyperbolic geometry.

Virtual cubulation of nonpositively curved graph manifolds
Author(s) :
Liu, Yi
Description :
In this paper, we show that a nontrivial compact graph manifold is
nonpositively curved if and only if its fundamental group virtually embeds into
a right-angled Artin group. As a consequence, nonpositively curved graph
manifolds have linear fundamental groups.
